Flood Disaster Silesia 2024

Intervention in the Crisis Area

In October 2024, we were on-site in Stronie Śląskie and the surrounding communities with our team to help those affected by the devastating flood disaster. Our foundation provided both a psychological and a technical intervention team to support the victims on various levels.

In close collaboration with the local crisis management team, we visited the hardest-hit villages, offering both psychological support and practical help. Looking at our photos from there, one can see the deep impact of the situation. A special focus was on supporting people who were housed in emergency shelters after losing their homes. Our time there was spent listening, offering comfort, building motivation, and planning further steps. Particularly impressive was the selfless support of a hotel manager who housed many of the victims free of charge and took great care of each individual—truly an angel on earth.

Technical Assistance and Support for Local Businesses

A special praise goes to our technical director, Sebastian, whose tireless efforts made a crucial contribution to the success of our work. Thanks to his expertise, numerous heating and utility systems were repaired, and the functionality of the town hall and several households was quickly restored. Additionally, he supported a local sawmill and a textile company that had to halt their production due to the damage. Despite a lack of spare parts, he managed to get the operations back up and running within a week, bringing financial stability back to many families in the region.

Further Support and Long-Term Assistance

Until the end of 2024, we continued to offer affected individuals free psychological and therapeutic help, available online, by phone, or in person, as desired.

This relief effort once again showed us how important solidarity and unity are. Thanks to the many volunteers who worked side by side with soldiers, police officers, and firefighters, we were able to help quickly and effectively. This experience has once again made it clear how powerful collective action can be in times of crisis.
