IV Myślenice Family Week

by Uwe Heydemann

As part of the 4th Myślenice Family Week, organized by the Social Services Center of the Myślenice Municipality under the motto “Turn off the screen | Turn on the Family,” we met with residents to talk about what is most often left unspoken: emotions, tension, and the need for genuine connection.

We were among people – listening, observing, and initiating conversations wherever there was readiness. Without pressure. Without distance. With authentic presence.

Children chose templates depicting emotions – fear, anger, sadness – and connected them to real-life situations. On the back of each card, they wrote their reflections: what the emotion reminded them of, what triggered it. Then, they tied the cards to helium balloons and released them into the sky. This simple gesture became something more – a symbolic act of letting go of what is heavy.

Adults reached for questions we usually postpone. We showed that caring for mental health is not a luxury – it's a necessity.

We thank everyone who paused – even for a moment.
